Fondazione Piero Portaluppi, under the aegis of Milan Expo 2015, presents the exhibition “Portaluppi, architecture on show: from Expo to Milan”, dedicated to the works of architect Piero Portaluppi.

The exhibition brings together drawings, plans and photographs of the architect’s most spectacular and distinctive works, which left an indelible mark on Milan from the 1920s to the 1960s, with a particular focus on the 1929 Barcelona Expo, for which he created the Italian Pavilion.

The exhibition represents a sort of continuation of the museum itinerary of Casa degli Atellani and Leonardo’s Vineyard – realized by the Foundation and opened to the public on 1st May – in order to allow visitors to acquire a more in-depth knowledge of the architect who restored Casa degli Atellani and the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, helping to preserve two of Milan’s important renaissance buildings.

During the exhibition, some clips filmed by Portaluppi himself and the trailer of the film “L’Amatore”, on the life of the architect, which the Foundation will distribute in September 2015, will also shown.

L'articolo PORTALUPPI, ARCHITECTURE ON SHOW sembra essere il primo su Fondazione Piero Portaluppi.

A didactical consideration about the transformation of Milan and the search for the dynamics that will make its next changes.

Milan is shuddering with its new identity and today we are looking at the city with a different look, open to the changes determined by the stratification and mixture of cultures and economical issues.

A historian, a philosopher, a photographer, a social media expert, an architect dedicated to social issues, a contemporary art curator and a designer will meet and will create an alternative didactical project that will build a new look at Milan through discussion, lectures and tours around the city.

After the two days of conferences and round-tables our students, lead by Alessandro Scandurra, are building the tools for observing and designing the present time, that is currently changing.

On the 30th September we’ll present publicly at the Foundation’s their final projects.

On occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2016 the Foundation opens the Piero Portaluppi’s apartment, now the home of his grandson, architect Piero Castellini. Located in the Casa degli Atellani, the residence mantains the atmosphere and some of the original settings and furnishings designed by the milanese architect.

A didactical consideration about the transformation of Milan and the search for the dynamics that will make its next changes.

Milan  is shuddering with its new identity and today we are looking at the city with a different look, open to the changes determined by the stratification and mixture of cultures and economical issues.

We will interpret that look and analyze the new identity, trying to depict it and bring it to light.

Through practical experiences, round-tables and seminars with the participation of various speakers, professors, researchers and architects   we will build the tools for observing and designing the present time, that is currently changing.

A historian, a philosopher, a photographer, a social media expert, an architect dedicated to social issues, a contemporary art curator and a designer will meet and will create an alternative didactical project  that will build a new look at Milan through discussion, lectures and tours around the city.

The workshop is addressed to the students of Architecture and Design of the Politecnico di Milano.
